Koddi Celebrates Women's History Month

The month of March has been a time of celebration and reflection as we acknowledge Women’s History Month. In addition to receiving beautiful bouquets of flowers on International Women’s Day, each week Koddiyaks had a chance to learn more about a few of the incredible ladies at Koddi.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. Who is your favorite influential female figure? What do you admire about her?

My mom, who has been the best example of a kind, responsible, and strong woman throughout my life. She worked full-time for the past 30 years while also raising me. Despite the challenges that came with balancing a career and motherhood, she always made sure that I was loved and cared for. She always told me the importance of hard work, determination, and perseverance.

What advice would you share with the next generation of women?

Invest in yourself and work hard. Take the time to develop your skills, knowledge, and expertise in your chosen field. The more you invest in yourself, the more opportunities you’ll create for yourself.

What is one accomplishment you are most proud of?

Earning my Master’s Degree in Data Science and Engineering. The journey to earning this degree was not easy, which took years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance to complete the program, but it was certainly worth it. It has equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge that I have been able to apply in my work at Koddi.

How can we empower other women?

By sharing experiences with other women, we can provide advice and support that can help them overcome their own challenges and achieve their goals.

What is a quote that is important to you that represents supporting women?

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. Who is your favorite influential female figure? What do you admire about her?

I don’t have a particular favorite influential figure – I admire all women today and in history who took courage to stand up and speak up for their rights, to be seen for what they have accomplished and who they are. If I really have to pick one as an example, then I would choose Eileen Gu, an American-Chinese Gen Z olympic, for inspiring me on “hard work paying off” and closing gaps between genders and cultures with self-empowerment and grace.

What advice would you share with the next generation of women?

I would encourage the next generation of women to pursue what they dream of and to stand up (or change an environment when it becomes emotionally difficult) when there are obstacles that stand against your will. Being the best version of yourself is extremely difficult and sometimes is tiring – just be the one you like the most and you’re most comfortable with.

What is one accomplishment you are most proud of?

Making it into my 27th without regrets of who I am and being a person who knows my own boundaries (to make myself happy). This may sound cheesy but it’s true!

How can we empower other women?

For seeing the beauty every woman brings along and to respect if not cheer, what they worked hard for.

What is a quote that is important to you that represents supporting women?

I almost wanted to Google this one but then I remembered something that my mum shared with me at a young age and stuck with me since: “Knowing how to cook, how to do chores, what to wear – these shouldn’t be because we want to become what others think that makes us a woman. Knowing how to take care of ourselves will empower us to make our own decisions of who to become and select what we want to do – independently.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. Who is your favorite influential female figure? What do you admire about her?

My mom, who passed away when I was 17, was the most influential female in my life. She loved so well and could literally do ANYTHING despite being a single mom and balancing a very busy career in medical sales. Her zest for life and servant heart are two things that I attempt to emulate in my life and with my family.

Thank you to all of the women everywhere who continue to lead and inspire.
