Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc., a hospitality company that owns 20+ brands encompassing thousands of hotels, came to Koddi with the challenge of boosting their competitive advantage for four of their hotel brands through their Co-op programs. While these Co-ops were running successful campaigns, their run-time surpassed the most competitive seasons for each brand. Because of this, an integral part of the challenge was to maximize the use of hotel dollars during the high-volume seasons for each brand.

The core goal was to provide each of the 1,800+ hotels with ample advertising support to drive incremental bookings and revenue over the course of their peak season.

Approach

Starting with the Days Inn Alliance, the Co-op for one of their largest economy brands, the Koddi team leveraged Media Plans to connect each of the 800+ hotels to the Koddi Demand Platform’s advanced automation system, a change in strategy from the previous year’s Co-ops. A Media Plan is Koddi Demand’s simple and effective tool to plan a hotel’s media budget to balance spend between active channels within the platform. Each hotel was individually analyzed by the Koddi team and given a custom Media Plan that would help them remain competitive over the course of the Co-op and utilize 100% of their funds during the focus months.

Results

This strategic shift proved extremely successful. Within the first 3 months of launching the Days Inn Alliance, there was a year-over-year (YoY) increase in spend of 44%, paired with a 10% increase in revenue.

Over the course of 3 months, the next round of Co-ops experienced an increase in both bookings and revenue of over 400% compared to the previous year. This included a 229% increase in investment and a 76% increase in ROAS. The Koddi team also successfully ensured that all Co-ops achieved the same or improved budget utilization compared to the previous year, capitalizing on peak demand.
